The paper is intended to defend the teaching of the processes of conception and concretisation within design training courses, particularly at university, because of its potential to instruct new socio-industrial dialogues. By recalling the principles of typification inherited from the Staatliches Bauhaus, we are interested in their revival through the probabilistic design of systems taught at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm, a few decades later. The reading we propose of this dual heritage allows us to consider the ecological, economic, social and technical (ecosociotechnical) approach across the types, based on the need for industrial sustainability.
