Radiation Effects on Er/ Yb Co-Doped Fibers: Radial Luminescence Study
Abstract
Confocal luminescence microscopy measurements showed that after an X-ray irradiation the luminescence intensity of rare-earth–doped-fibers is strongly decreased in the visible spectral range. The radial measurements showed that preexisting defects, the NBOHC, are localized both in the core and in the cladding but with larger concentration near the core region. These defects are also present after an irradiation and their number increases with the dose, especially in the fiber core.
