Fluid Cells Fabrication in Sol-Gel Films and Porous Glasses

We investigate laser treatment regimes suitable for the formation of the isolated cells in porous silica glasses and sol-gel films. Three-dimensional structures are produced as a result of porous glass densification induced by femtosecond laser pulses. We also demonstrate that CO2 laser can be used to form such structures in porous sol-gel films deposited on the glass. In porous glass, barriers with various permeability were created, which were used as walls in fluid cells. Laser-induced microrelief formation on the surface of sol-gel films provides isolation for separate porous cells. The impermeability of porous cells was tested by impregnating them with different dyes such as rhodamine 6G, fuchsine, etc.
